This past Saturday we had the pleasure of seeing the four-piece band from New Orleans known as Motel Radio. The guys were to hit the stage at 9:45PM and fans filled the room as their set time came closer. Excited fans cheered once the band emerged the stage with instruments in hand.
Throughout the evening we heard many of their original songs such as their most popular song on Apple Music and Spotify, Searchlights, and even some new songs that were only being played for the second time! It was such a treat to witness an astounding sound that they like to call “New Orleans Rock N Folkin’ Roll” come to life. Their passion for music is undeniable, as guitarist Winston Triolo went into some heavy hitter guitar solos in most of their songs, and every now and then I would catch drummer Eric Lloyd getting deep into the beat for each song.
The word on the street is that these guys are releasing a new album very soon, thanks to a successful Kickstarter that raised money for them to record the rest of their songs due to not being on a record label. So, seriously – if you’re into a feel good, genre-bending folk rock band, you’re going to want to dig into the Motel Radio archives.
