Last week’s show at 713 Music Hall was phenomenal. 86-year-old Buddy Guy came out with a roar of the crowd. A man who has played with legends like B.B. King and Muddy Waters, to contemporaries like John Mayer, he’s still making the guitar scream like he did back in the ’70s.
With the second song of the set playing a classic Muddy Waters song, the crowd sang back every word. Traditional blues heads all in attendance were losing their mind at the craftsmanship they were witnessing.
It was beautiful seeing an artist at the top of their craft and still finding ways to innovate. Even being in a later stage in his life, his crowd work, playing, and artistry were still at a high.
