Seeing Sarah Kinsley live on April 8th at House of Blues Houston for her “The Fleeting Tour,” named after her latest EP Fleeting, felt like stepping into something way more personal than just a concert.
Going in, I was already excited to finally hear her voice in person. The studio versions are already insane, so my expectations were high, but somehow, she still exceeded them. Not many artists can actually sound better live, but she’s easily one of them. There’s so much control and emotion in her voice that it almost catches you off guard.
Her set leaned into that emotion heavily. The way she sings feels like it’s pulling directly at your chest, and you could feel that across the room. She took time between songs to explain what they meant to her and where she was in life when she wrote them, which made everything hit even harder. You could see it in the crowd, people holding their chests, swaying, fully immersed.
Some of the most memorable parts of the night were when it was just her, a piano, and a single spotlight. Those moments felt almost intrusive in the best way, like we were sitting in her room while she was writing these songs in real time.
But it wasn’t all soft moments. Songs like “Lovegod,” “Oh No Darling,” and “The King” brought the energy up, and the crowd matched it instantly, jumping, singing every word back to her, not missing a beat.
If you’re looking for a show that feels more like an experience than just a performance, seeing Sarah Kinsley live is easily worth it.
