I had eagerly been waiting for this night since I bought tickets for the concert last year when they went on sale. Finally, on June 7th, indie-pop band LANY took the stage at the Revention Music Center in Houston. Starting the night off was opener ROLE MODEL who sang a few of his own songs and a cover of The Climb by Miley Cyrus, which the crowd sang back each word. After ROLE MODEL warmed up the crowd, it was time for the main act that everyone had waited anxiously for. Everything went dark, and a two-minute countdown started on the screen. LANY then comes out to one of the loudest crowds I have ever heard. They start off the setlist with Thick and Thin, a hit from their newest album, Malibu Nights. Followed by some songs from the new album and some older hits, it was a good mix and kept the crowd hyped and singing along throughout the show. Some stand outs from the fans were I Don’t Wanna Love You Anymore, Hurts and Super Far. During If You See Her, lead singer Paul Jason Klein went into the crowd, and everyone went wild. Things slowed down with their last song before the encore with title track Malibu Nights.
Klein’s vocals were impeccable throughout the whole show. After seeing LANY’s massive tour schedule with dates across the world, it is amazing how he keeps his voice in top shape. To close off the night, the two encore songs were Thru These Tears and ILYSB. The crowd definitely enjoyed themselves during the concert as they all screamed and sang throughout the whole show. LANY’s music and lyrics are certainly something special. They put on one heck of a show, and I am sure their success will rise even more as years go by.
