We are a collective of creatives based in Houston, Texas with a mission to portray music through our unique perspectives. Whether it be photography or writing, you’ll find that we run on pure passion. For music fans, by music fans.

Brenna Mata – Editor in Chief

Hey there! I’m Brenna, the founder of HTX VOX. Music and photography are my greatest passions, so of course I combined the two and took on the gig of a music photographer. I’ve been immersed into the world of visual arts since I was a teen and that’s why I studied Digital Media at the University of Houston (class of ’22). I started HTX VOX for music fans to have an outlet to exhibit their creativity, a characteristic that I felt was missing from the music journalism scene in Houston.

Marti Mendoza – Content Editor

Hello! My name is Marti. Music is definitely one of my top passions with my love being for country, acoustic singer-songwriter, alternative, soft rock and folk. In my free time, I enjoy going to concerts, playing guitar, watching and playing sports (Go Astros!) and binge watching TV shows like This Is Us, One Tree Hill and Dexter. Last but not least, I love being with my family and friends and playing with my dogs!

Carissa Aguirre – Photojournalist

Howdy! My name is Carissa and when I started photography in 2020 I really wanted to shoot concerts. I’ve always loved seeing my favorite bands live and I was always a little jealous of the photographers in the pit close to all the action. Even though covid forced me to put my plans on the back burner, I took that time to teach myself all things photography. Eventually, live music started making a come back in 2021 and I shot my first big concert at White Oak Music Hall! It was everything I had imagined it would be and I fell in love with concert photography. If I told high school Carissa that she’d be photographing concerts from the pit instead of from the crowd with her iPhone 6, she would FREAK.

Robyn Tuazon – Photojournalist

Hi! My name is Robyn and I have no traditional or educational background with photography but I’ve been taking pictures for as long as I can remember. Being a live music photographer isn’t something I intended on pursuing but I’m not surprised at the same time considering the amount of music I listen to on any given day. I’m that girl that would create mix CD’s and now with streaming, curate custom playlists for her friends. When I’m not shooting concerts I work full-time as a physical therapist assistant. If you’re going to a concert in Houston there’s a really strong chance you’ll see me there.

Adrienne Rodriguez – Journalist

Hiiii my name is Adrienne Rodriguez and I’m currently working on a journey to find my passion in life and I’m grateful to be able to start with HTX VOX. The love that I have for music is out of this world. Being able to witness different artists and genres to write about is honestly the best thing a person like me could ask for. It is definitely something I’m not used to but having the abilities to expand my skills and my taste is ~*chef’s kiss*~.

Daniel Restrepo – Photojournalist

Hey there! My name is Daniel and I’m stoked to be a part of the HTX VOX team! My journey in photography started at an early age, but it wasn’t until 2018 I discovered my love for concert photography. I always photographed concerts for the artists themselves, but it’s great to finally have a platform where I can truly express and share the magic of live music. I listen to all genres of music but have a strong liking for Acoustic Indie-Pop melded with EDM sounds. In my free time you can catch me working out, taking pictures in the city or at the beach, or even playing piano and guitar.

Morgan Mata Bailey – Social Media Strategist

Hi! My name is Morgan and I help out with HTX VOX’s social media channels. I love getting to share all the special moments that happen at concerts and festivals. Music has always been a big part of my life and some of my favorite artists include Paramore, Halsey, Dashboard Confessional, Carly Rae Jepsen and Travis Scott. I enjoy hanging out with my husband Jason, our animals Ben & Ellie and spending time with our new baby son Reid!
