This past Saturday we had the pleasure of seeing the four-piece band from New Orleans known as Motel Radio. The guys were to hit the stage at 9:45, and fans filled the room as this set time came closer. Houstonians were greeted with excitement when they came out with their instruments. Throughout the evening we heard many of their original songs such as their top song on Apple Music and Spotify “Searchlights” and even some new songs that were only being played for the second time! What a treat it was, to see such an astounding sound that they like to call “New Orleans Rock N Folkin’ Roll” come to life. Their passion for music is undeniable, guitarist Winston Triolo went into some heavy hitter guitar solos in majority of their songs and every now and then I would catch drummer Eric Lloyd getting so deep into feeling the beat for each song.
Word on the street is that these guys are releasing a new album very soon thanks to a successful Kickstarter that raised money for them to finish songs due to not being on a record label. So seriously – if you’re into a feel good genre bending southern folk rock band, you’re going to want to dig into Motel Radio’s archives.
